Neuro Ophthalmology

Vast variety of central nervous system diseases are associated with ophthalmic disorders. Tumours of the brain often present with swelling of the optic disc ( papilledema) or optic atrophy. Some are associated with abnormalities of eye movements and visual field defects therefore a complete neuro ophthalmic examination is mandatory. This includes examination of fundus , eye movements and particularly visual fields ( perimetry).
