Gonioscopy to examine the angle of anterior chamber.
Gonioscopy is basic investigation of glaucoma to determine whether angle of anterior chamber is open, occluded or occludable. An occludable or occluded angle (closed angle) requires urgent laser iridotomy to circumvent the pupil block. In open angle glaucoma laser iridotomy is not required. It is treated with medications. When medical therapy fails laser trabeculoplasty or surgery is indicated.
Perimetry is a computerised technology to record the visual fields. Perimetry is essential investigation of glaucoma to assess visual field damage. It provides point to point information about retinal sensitivity in central 30° field of vision. Characteristic glaucoma defects can be picked up in field of vision. Progress of these defects can be monitored at periodic visits and course of treatment altered if required.
Phasing to monitor diurnal variation of intra oular pressure (I.O.P)
3D OCT is performed to measure the thickness of retinal nerve fibre layer and ganglion cell layer of retina and to measure cup disc ratio.
